Thankful Moments…

November 21, 2008

I would like to hear what you are thankful for this Thanksgiving holiday…Leave a comment on this site and let’s share!

I really miss the classroom. Both as a teacher and a student. I tought for five years, and it was of the most joyous times in my life. I left the classroom because I was on the verge of a breakdown, which also stemmed from a lot of personal issues in my own life.

I also miss the classroom as a student. It is about time for me to pursue my Master’s Degree in counseling. I love to learn. I love to apply new knowledge into my own life…

The reason I titled this post as I did…sometimes we forget there are times to listen and times to be silent. I don’t know about you, but I sometimes have difficulty listening to wise spirtual advice. I have a great man in my life who listewns, cares, and tries to guide. But, I tend to chose what I want to listen to and what I want to forget.

Also, I love to talk. I love to prove my point. But, there are times to be silent. This is something I really struggle with, but I know God does call us to be silent sometimes. We can learn alot by listening and being silent. That is something I want to work on in my life.

Comments, questions, concerns are always welcome! Let your voice be heard!

Mediocrity anyone?

November 21, 2008

To elaborate on a previos post, I am tired of living a life of mediocrity. I am tired of settling just because it is the easier thing to do…

About a year ago, I was in a relationship. I thought that she was the one to be honest. I looked past all the things that I didnt like about her, and was ready to propose to her. Except, all the feelings that I thought I had were not reciprocated. I was like, OK God, she must be the one, as I haven’t dated in a long time. But, I stood up against mediocrity and ended the relationship. Not to say anything negative about this person, because I have no negative feelings towards her. But I know now that settling and marrying her would be a mistake.

How can this apply to our spiritual life? Revelation 3:15-16 states:

15I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

I do not want to live a life of mediocrity, or a life that is lukewarm. I become easily frustrated when I see our country being mediocre…in many ways. Granted, I know that not everyone will feel like I do…and perhaps I grew up in a sheltered life. Who knows. However…I do know that I love my God. I really need to make sure that when I talk the talk I also walk the walk.

Well, just a rant if you will. Maybe a challenge as well…are you hot or cold in your relationship with God? I know I do not want to be either cold or lukewarm. What about you?

Ch..Ch..Ch…Ch…Changes

November 5, 2008

Well, another presidential election is down in history, and we have a new President of the United States. Love him or hate him, Barack Obama is tthe 44th President-elect for the USA. Again, I am not going to bash him. And, I don’t want you to either. Do I agree with everything he stands for? NO! Do I agree with his character or even the beginnings of his policy? NO! But, I will support him and continue to pray for this great country. Love him or hate him, prayer for our country and for him will be the answer!

I know, short and sweet. I plan on expanding my thoughts from my last post, as well as a bunch of other topics that keep resounding in my head! Stay tuned…it’s gunns be interesting!

No song of the day today…Comments always welcome!

This post could probably be in the opiniated section, but whatever. I was just watching the news. They had a story about a young man who was sent home from school for wearing a costume as Jesus to school on Halloween. Now I know, we can go into a whole debate of church and state here. But seriously, public schools are allowed to teach the Bible as historical, so what was the point of sending him home? They said it was because his costume was distracting… But can’t there be other costumes just as distracting? I submit there are…

Now, we are headed into one of the most influential and important elections of our time tomorrow. Now matter who is voted in, it will be historical. Unfortunately, this election has created a distate for politics that I have never had before. I know people in office, especially President, are scrutinized. But when you hear the same things over and over and over again, it is quite annoying. Do I think that if McCain gets in, it will be four more years of Bush? Absolutely not! I think that is unfair and unjust to say. What is this world coming to? Am I comfortable with both candidates? NO. But, I am leaning one way.

There is no doubt, our world is crumbling around us. We are living in perilous times. As Christians, we should be the ones to say enough is enough already. I am tired of seeing those I love struggling and hurting. I am tired of seeing them walk a path that will lead to destruction. Yes, we all go through trials. But, I am tired of the hold they tend to have on people. AHHHHHH…What is this world coming to?

As a Christian, I will stand for what I believe. If you dont stand for something you will fall for anything. I will seek God in who to vote for tomorrow. I will be loyal and available to those I love to know they are not in this alone. I am tired of the hurt, the pain, the sorrow. It’s time for me to now stand up and say enough is enough.

Sorry, I just had to get all of this out and off my chest.

Thanks for listening. Comments, thoughts, opinions are always welcome. Let your voice be heard.

Sharkbait Sean

October 23, 2008

What an interesting week it has been! I have started my new job with Mad Science. This is in addition to my other cleaning job. Basically, I go to schools after the school day is over and do science classes for students enrolled. Each class covers various topics and lasts for several weeks.

On Sunday, I asked several friends what they thought my Mad Scientist name should be. Well, it was between Professor Zunk or Sharkbait Sean. Since the first week covered science in movies, I decided to go with the name from one of my favorite films, Finding Nemo. It is cool because when I begin the class, and I have the kids say hello to me, they reply with, “Ooo Aah Ahh!” So much fun…

364 days ago, I unfortunately had my license suspended. Not meaning to get into a long story, my driving privileges are restored tomorrow. It has certainly been a long year, sometimes going fast. My friends have really rallied beside me and offered rides whenever needed. I hope to do something special for them in the future to show them how much I appreciate them.

I have also been volunteering a lot at my church over the last few weeks. My youth group is getting ready to go to Convention, and I am basically helping our youth pastor organzie the event. So, as you can see, my life has been pretty busy lately to say the least. What have you been up to?

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have enjoyed this view into the Life of Modawg… Let’s hear what you think!

We Are Family

October 14, 2008

Have you ever wondered if there were family members of yours that you have never met or heard of? If so, have you wondered where they could possibly be? Well, as weird as it may seem, I have found 5 members of my family within a few month period.

Say what you want about MySpace or Facebook, they can have positive elements to them. A few months back, I received a message from someone on MySpace. She believed she was my half sister. Well, it turned out she actually is my half sister, and I remembered her and her mother. How weird is that?

Last week, my brother Chris decided to Google himself. He found someone named Chris Mogee Best. He decided to investigate further, and she turned out to my cousin!!!!! Through her, we met our other cousins, making a total of four family members found thus far.

This past Sunday, after I came home from youth group, I had a message from my cousin Chris, letting me know about my half brother. I decided I wanted to get to know him, and asked to be his friend on Facebook. This is crazy. But, also cool. My family is beginning to come together.

Family is so important in our life, and we need to come together and lift one another up as family. I am also so thankful for all my friends who are also my family.

On other news, I have my 2nd day of Mad Science training tomorrow, and I think I have narrowed my scientist name down to a few choices. Either Professor Fuel, Shockwave Sean, or Snowstorm Sean. Any thoughts? Maybe you have a new one for me…but I need to know it by tomorrow!

Stay tuned for more entries coming soon. There are many topics I want to discuss, and boy will they be interesting. Comments, questions, thoughts are always welcome. Let your voice be heard!

Mad Scientist

October 11, 2008

So, I finished my first day of training with Mad Science today. First, I went to the wrong place for training. I assumed that I was to go to the place wherew I interviewed. Needless to say, I was wrong. So, I was to start training at 9am, I walked in at 10am…WOOPS!!!!!

This job is going to be SO MUCH FUN!!!! Basically, we bring science to a whole new level. Who knew the different energies that are being used when you play with toys?

I need my reader’s to help me. I need a Mad Scientist name. It either needs to be based on alliteration of my first name (Science Sean) or Professor something (Professor Butterfrog). It needs to gather the kids interest through background stories or personality. PLEASE HELP ME!!!! This will defintely lead into my next post!

As always, comments thoughts and suggestions are always welcome! Let me know your thoughts!

Effort

October 2, 2008

In an effort to give my wonderful readers more to chew on (cough cough cough), I am sitting here at 4:45 in the morning. This post might be a bit random, so be warned…

I am so excited!!!! I received a call today for an interview with a company called Mad Science. Basically, I would go to schools after their day lets out and do an hour program for elementary students that sign up. I get to excite them about science! As a Christian, this especially excites me to share my passion for the creation of God to students! (even if I cant do this from a Biblical viewpoint…) Please pray that God’s will be done in this interview, it is a part time job, but one I would love doing. I am also going to a job fair for a new store opening up soon. I am just praying God’s will be done as I am in need of a job/insurance.

As I have grown up, God has allowed me to go through trials and temptations. The decisions made when faced with these have somehow shaped the man I am today. I am heavily involved with my church’s youth group, and I would have it no other way. It saddens me when I see teens today going through the same things I did when I was their age. Frustration abounds as I pray that these teens experience victory in jesus Christ!

This past Sunday, my pastor spoke on the unanswerable questions that we face in life. Usually, these questions begin or involve the word WHY… Unfortuantely, we may never know the answers to these questions. Sadly, these questions can even shake our faith. Will we let them shake us, or will we grow stronger in our faith because we know that God is in control?

Thank you for taking the time out to read my thoughts and what is going on in my life. A lot is happening, a lot is being questioned and prayed on, and a lot is allowing growth spirtually, emotionally, and mentally.

As always, comments questions or thoughts are welcome. Let your voice be heard! Let’s discuss!

Faith Like a Mustard Seed…

September 30, 2008

As I sit here, eating my bagel and drinking my chocolate milk, I cannot help but reflect on the events of this past week…

If you have been following the story of Darren and MIsty LeBlanc (www.leblanclife.com), you are aware that Misty is dancing in front of her Father in Heaven! As I sat at her memorial service this past Saturday, there was an ongoing theme of faith. Misty led a life of faith. The Bible says that with the faith of a mustard seed, we can move mountains. Well, Misty could have moved a whole chain of mountains. How amazing is that?

This brought me to a thought. When I was teaching, I had a poster in my room that had this question…”How do you live your life when nobody’s watching?” How many times in our lives do we fall into the trap of acting one way at home, and one way somewhere else (like work, school, or church)? I want to live a life of fath that is pleasing to my Lord, one that does not waiver, one that does not change.

Misty left a legacy of love, faith, humor, and influence. So I ask you who read this…How do you live your life when nobody’s watching…

(Obvioulsy this could have gone into the opiniated section…but more is to come…)

As always, questions, feedback, and comments are always welcome. Let your voice be heard!!!!
